Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (1928-1967)
was a real freedom fighter, not in the sense and
way the bourgeois media wants to portrait him
–as an adventurer, a “conqueror”, and even
worst: a mythical soldier who travelled the
world looking for personal fame. Some says he
is a “Red Robin Hood”, “the Quixote of
Communism”, the “New Garibaldi”. But for the
Bolivian people he is “Saint Ernesto of La
Higuera”, for Africans, “Tatu” from the jungles
of Congo; for Cubans, he is simply “Comandante
Che Guevara”, as simple as he lived in
Cuba. Names are not relevant; his actions and
ideas are.
Yet,
he could had been a famous and outstanding
Medical Doctor. At 25 years old, he had
written dozens of monographies and essays on
allergy, asthma, tropical diseases, lepers,
etc. He would have been also an exceptional
Politologist, or Social Scientist, because he
had the natural gift to foreseeing facts and
events of collective reality, like a Prophet
crossing the border of knowledge to put into
practice his revolutionary thoughts, when he
decided to “fight imperialism wherever it is”.
He
could had decided to live a fancy life with his
family, in a fancy house. He just simply offer
a different alternative: he walked the way as
the “Soldier of the Revolution”, and went beyond
that, becoming “The Comandante of the
Dispossess Peoples of the World”, to
denounce everywhere he went the Imperialism
hunger of power. His speeches has been
immortalized at The Tricontinental Conference in
Havana, Cuba; at United Nations General Assembly
(1964), every time he visited a friendly
country. Death is only a way to cross the
frontier to Eternity, not the means to murder
him. Africa was the nourishing Mother preparing
him for his journey, not to the marble-like
grave, cold as ice, impersonal, but to the final
encounter with the Latin American grounds which
grew him up for ever.
Those peace-loving peoples at the “dark spots of
the world”, remember his gigantic and
everlasting dimension of Man and leader, who
lived a restless life as a revolutionary
professional, because this is the only expertise
which does not admit resting, the livese and
dignity of the have-nots is preserved through
it, understanding that the mission of helping
others is as important as to become a great
scholar or researcher; that the personal
endeavour, besides that of other men and women
could lead to the redemption for the peoples and
to the individual realization for those who can
reach it.
UNTIL VICTORY FOREVER, Che “Comandante”,
friend and brother in the struggle!!!!
