Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Yoanka Gonzalez won
the World Cycling Cup 12.42 mile row race in
Manchester, England.
Yoanka, world champion in
scratch of Melbourne 2004, scored 13 points in
Manchester plus her silver medals in Moscow
(December) and Los Angeles (January) gave her
this victory.
The runner ups in
Manchester were Berlina Goss (9 points)
Australia and Denish Mie Bekker Lacota (7).
The Cuban sprinter, 30,
led the ranks with 32 points, followed by
Italian Giorgia Bronzini (24) -gold medal in
Moscow- and Russian Yulia Arustamova (15).
In this way she qualified
for the World Championships, slated for March 29
to April 1 in Mallorca, Spain, where she will
seek a slot for Beijing 2008 Olympics.
