The Centre for
Studies on Africa and the Middle East (CEAMO)
will host its XIII International Seminar
Current Problems of Africa and the Middle East
from 24 to 26 June, 2007.
Co-hosted by Africa House, Arabs’
House, and the Bureau of the Havana
Historian, the meeting will take place in
premises within the historic area of Old Havana.
The central theme
of the XII International Seminar will revolve

Participants to the
XIII International Seminar can present papers
related to the central themes linked to the
following aspects:

Economic, political and social problems in
Africa and the Middle East in the midst of which
South-South cooperation evolves
n
Governments vis-a-vis South-South cooperation in
Africa and the Middle East
n
Economic, social and financial factors of the
viability of South-South cooperation in Africa
and the Middle East
n
Place of external agents in South-South
cooperation in Africa and the Middle East
n
Cuba and South-South cooperation with Africa and
the Middle East: a viable alternative of
solidarity from the Third World
n
Achievements and shortcomings of South-South
cooperation in Africa and the Middle East
n
Perspectives of South-South cooperation in
Africa and the Middle East
Paper summaries not
exceeding 150 words must be sent to the
Organizing Committee before June 1st, 2008.
From June 1st to the holding of the seminar
itself, participants must send the final text of
their papers with a view to its inclusion in the
Memoirs of the Seminar. Papers as well as
summaries must be sent via e-mail with arial
12 font and footnotes in arial 11
font.
The Organizing
Committee will have the right to decide the
inclusion or not of any paper depending on its
pertinence to the Seminar agenda or any other
consideration that will be timely communicated
to its author.
The XIII
International Seminar will session in premises
within the historic area of Old Havana and we
therefore suggest that participants should lodge
in nearby hotels in order to facilitate their
transportation to and from the Seminar venue and
to take immediate contact with an environment
that has been included among the World Heritage
sites, and also with Cuban history.
The Organizing
Committee will keep you informed about the
preparations for the Seminar as well as other
useful topics via circular letters that will be
periodically dispatched to potential
participants. |
