Havana, December
30, 2005. (AIN).- The five Cubans held for over
seven years by the US as political prisoners sent
a message to their compatriots on the island,
reiterating that there is no human force able to
stop the justness of their cause.
During 2005
there have been huge challenges and victories in
their case, states a letter signed by the Cuban
Five: Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez,
Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Ramon Labanino
and published in Granma newspaper online.
The document
expresses: "Despite the intensified criminal
blockade and low blows from the neo-fascist Bush
administration, the reality is that the friendship
and solidarity between the people of the US and
Cuba has strengthened."
The letter also
cites among this year's achievements, the growth
of the Cuban economy, the resounding condemnation
of the US blockade in the UN General Assembly and
the increasingly close relations between the Cuban
and Venezuelan revolutions.
"The development
of Cuba's military, political and economic
invulnerability, as stated by our
Commander-in-Chief, represents vital strategic
victories," confirms the text.
The five Cuban
anti-terrorists express that they have also had
important victories such as the decision of a
working group of the UN Human Rights Commission
that declared their detention both arbitrary and
illegal. Another positive event in their case was
"the unanimous August 9 decision from three judges
in Atlanta who overturned our convictions and
ordered a new trial outside of Miami."
"Many challenges
and difficulties lie ahead but we are sure that
our united people will win each battle as there is
no human or natural force capable of defeating all
the love and justice behind our cause," states the
letter from the Cuban Five.
"Dear
compatriots, we, your five brothers, are deeply
proud of you, of our revolution and to have the
honor to live this important moment in our
country's history," stated the prisoners. "From
our trenches in the heart of the empire, we want
to wish you success and happiness in 2006," they
exclaimed.
"We hope to soon
be together with you in our beloved country to
celebrate another glorious anniversary of our
Revolution. Long Live the 47th Anniversary of the
Revolution!" the Cuban Five concluded.
